If you’ve ever watched the opening credits of ‘Rosehaven’ on ABC TV, you’ll have seen the riverscape at Franklin, though mirror-image split horizontally.

Set on the western shore of the Huon River, south of Huonville and north of Geeveston, Franklin is home to The Wooden Boat Centre and the natural resting place of eyes that seek out understated serene beauty; here evoked in vistas of wooden hulled sailing boats riding at their moorings in the channel, their gently swaying masts echoing the movement of tall trees bowing with the breeze on the opposite shore.

I can’t recall that we’ve ever actually bought anything in Franklin, but we always stop for a look. And it’s worth it everytime.
